I am so excited to say that after years of loving taking pictures, I am finally taking a photography class! And, to make it even better, I’m taking the class at RISD, one of the best fine arts schools in the country, if not the world. I had my first class last week and I don’t think I’ve ever been that excited for a class.

With that being said, I’ve decided to post all of my assignments here! The prompt for assignment 1 was:

Have some fun! Choose one subject to explore in depth and bring in SIX images in your Best Folder for discussion next week (NOTE: no children, pets, sunsets, photos at night, or using flash).  Concentrate on exposure controls and composition.

All of the assignments for this class have to be turned in with no post processing whatsoever. This is new for me! I’m used to being able to tweak and fix all of the little things once I get home but it’s definitely great practice.

I spent about an hour at the Providence Athenaeum a really cool library that was founded in 1836. Both Edgar Allen Poe and H.P. Lovecraft were frequent visitors of the Athenaeum during their lives. It is a really beautiful place and I really enjoyed spending time there focusing only on trying to capture it.

Here are my 6 pictures for this week!
