Oh gosh I’ve gotten behind again. Well, since Tuesday, I’ve gone to more class and had a few other adventures. None quite as exciting as cookie sheet sledding, I mean how can you ever beat that? But classes have been good and I like all of them so far. The style here is a little bit different and going to lectures is much less a thing than at home but I’m getting used to it all. On Thursday I had my second experience of getting into a car with someone I didn’t really know but it all turned out okay and I had a fantastic time rock climbing. I had emailed the mountaineering club about joining up and the person who answered was super nice and said they would be happy to give me a lift over to the gym. It worked out really well because while I was there I was surprised to see one of the other 3 girls in my STEMS class. And as it turns out, we’re at about the same level and both want to climb on Thursdays. So, new climbing buddy, check! And a buddy here is more important at home because they do a lot more top roping than we do at Hanger 18. Maybe we can even take some bouldering trips or something. It’s also nice because I was already sitting with her group of friends in STEMS and they all seem pretty cool as well. Look at me being all social.
On Friday I learned that I might not actually be able to attend any of the class for my biomechanics class, but I might still take it. It’s an awesome class and everything is recorded and the Prof. seems fantastic and willing to work with a dorky exchange student. So we’ll see. On Friday night, I went out to a bar for the first time. It was actually really fun. We were supposed to meet up with a group of people but when we got to the meeting place, only one other person was there. We figured out that everyone was at UniBar, the bar that’s uni sponsored/on campus, duh. So we went over and were talking for a bit. Once everyone got there, we headed out. But somehow, everyone ended up splitting up. We ended up in a group at a Greek cafe with an Aussie who was the cousin of Valerio (Italy), Valerio himself, Antonios (UK/Greece/Czech Republic), Dirk (Germany), Fredericka and Vittoria (Italy, those may or may not be correct spellings, I’m going to go with not, but they had Awesome Italian accents), and me and Jenn. Quite the international group, although a heavy emphasis on Italy which is new, normally we’re surrounded by Germans. After hanging out for awhile and trying some baclava, we went over to a bar called Red Love. Jenn and I got our ID’s checked (actually everyone did but this was the first time we had our ID’s checked) and I enjoyed that fact that we all had international ID’s and were probably making the security guard’s job obnoxious. We went inside and it had some cool decor. There was a bar, dance floor, and dj with couches and tables all around. Which is pretty typical. But around each set of couches were strings hanging from the ceiling in circles. I’m not describing it well but it looked really cool. I want to run in circles through the stuff and I have a ridiculous picture or too with the stuff. We hung out there for awhile (and ate some appetizers since we were starving) and then someone had the bright idea that we should have Antonios (break dancer extraordinaire) teach us so me moves. So we started learning to do things like top rock and six step, even tried a baby freeze. But then someone from the bar noticed us and started trying to get us into the center of the dance floor. I was having none of it but Antonios, who actually knows what he is doing, went out and showed off his moves. We all got free drinks out of the deal. Although I ended up giving mine away. I just wanted a Shirley Temple but they didn’t have cherry syrup! It was terrible. But not really 🙂 After that we kind of just danced around for awhile and it was generally a good night 🙂 Today we went to the Central Market again (I got corn!) and I found out that there’s a Mexican market around!!! We tried to get to it today but kind of failed so tomorrow! I will have proper beans and even masa to make some tortillas with!!! 😀 😀

Also, hey. Guess who’s going to Thailand??? This is the trip Jenn and I are going on: http://www.colourfultrips.com/trip-194-Thai-break. It looks fantastic. You should come with! 😀
Oh! And I finally have measuring cups and spoons!!! (this is almost as exciting to me as going to Thailand. okay. maybe not. but I’m still really excited!)
