I’ve always loved mohawking my pixie cut for random things. I think I’ve always secretly wanted one. So when I signed the papers to officially take my dream job in Singapore, I decided to mohawk and dye my hair.
When Jenn came to see me in Boston, we looked for literally hours to try to find someone to cut my hair but it was the fifth of July so everything everywhere was closed or booked up. We ended up in Waltham where this awesome lady named Maro cut my hair. She said that she had done things like this before and had been cutting hair for 30 years. She was fantastic and did a great job! It looks good flat and spiked! These are the pictures I gave her to work with:
This is how I started
And how I finished!
The colorist wasn’t there that day but I wanted to cut my hair before I chickened out!
The next weekend I went with Jenn’s friend Elaine to Boston to get my hair dyed! I had an appointment at a salon but they only took cash so I had to make a change of plans. Elaine took me to her normal hair salon in Chinatown, where they don’t actually speak any English, only Cantonese, but they were able to fit me in. So Elaine translated everything that I wanted done to my hair, which I’ve never had dyed before. We are also pretty sure the stylist had never done color before. It was definitely an experience but it turned out fantastic!
After I got my hair dyed, I caught the end of the World Cup championship game. Based on hair color, I decided to root for Germany. We won!
And that’s how I caught fire.
